Last night I had another dream…
What is that all about when it’s at home? You can go months without remembering a single one and then for a few nights in a row your brain suddenly decides to run its own late-night cinema without asking your permission.
If I could bottle that lucidity on demand I’d probably have a book written by Friday.
Anyway, last night’s dream took me wandering down memory lane, handed me an old VHS remote and hit play before I had the chance to ask for popcorn. Cheeky, really.
Funny thing though…
You can forget where you just put your keys during the day, but your brain can remember random things in ‘dream scape world’ from years ago like they happened only yesterday. Apparently your brain remembers EVERY SINGLE waking moment of your life, it’s just a bit pants at accessing all the drawers it’s put stuff in. That’s where dreams can come in handy.
I once had a dream about some bloke who was an expert in something I know about as much as I know about performing the Can-Can (zero, before anyone gets excited and I’m definitely not planning on taking that up). I woke up genuinely impressed… then realised I must be the unwitting expert, which is unsettling and exciting in equal measure.
I wonder if I’m fluent in Spanish and I just haven’t realised yet 🙂 Maybe not…
All I can think is I must’ve fallen asleep listening to YouTube or something. Amazing what you learn while you’re snoozing.
It’s funny how your mind plays back seemingly trivial moments in dreams as well, isn’t it!?
I used to dream about picking blackberries in the garden with my grandfather, which again is something I used to do with him in real life. I also used to have a Superman kite I’d fly with him, but I’ve never dreamt about that. I had a soft spot for that kite and I loved being with him when we were flying it.
At the back of his house there was a big field and that’s where we’d fly it when the wind picked up.
Moving on…
Nice memories, although if I had any control I’d switch the fruit up occasionally. Coconuts one day, pineapples the next. Make it feel a bit more tropical.
I think people find that more interesting as well. Better to say you had a dream featuring a mango than one about a regular piece of fruit like an apple. Who wants to know more about a Cox’s Pippin (I rest my case).
“Ooh what happened in the exotic mango dream? Which country were you in?”
“UK. Grimsby.” (lol)
Getting back to my dream revisions (in prospect), you’ll find me by the bar at the beach holding a pair of coconuts (and why not). Unlike ‘Play Your Cards Right’, you must surely get something for a pair.
Well, you do in Dean’s Coconut Dream Game.
You know how Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan sit around doing book club?
I think readers of this blog and I should get together and form Dream Club.
To gain admission you have to bring a pillow, an open mind and a cup of chamomile tea.
All those who are in say “Aye“.
That’s enough dream related randomness for one day.
Can-Can auditions start tomorrow.
Thanks for reading, let’s play this one out with Dreams Can Come True by Gabrielle (I liked this when it came out. Now I like it more)…
