Firing Up My Old Nokia 3330 – 20 Years (Ago) of Contacts Still Inside…
And It Even Has A New Number (Trumpet Blows)
You never know what you are you going to find when you switch on an old phone.
I recently wrote about rediscovering my old Nokia 3330, which was the first mobile phone I ever bought and used over 20 years ago.
The last time I powered it up would have been circa 2005.
I only switched because I wanted a phone with a camera so I could take pictures like this,
otherwise I reckon I’d still have carried on using it until 2015 (that’s when my willpower broke
and I moved to smartphone).
After ordering a few bits and pieces I turned it on and waited for something to happen.
The old bones still stirred…
Yep it still works, and the contacts list is exactly as I left it.
Some names I still talk to.
Others I haven’t heard from in years.
A few… I can’t even remember who they were (lol).
In the video below, I scroll through the full contacts list with a quick running commentary. The whole shebang: Old friends, family, workmates, even people I have no recollection of…

It’s almost surreal how a name on a screen can instantly bring back a memory or draw a complete blank which did happen as you’ll see in the vid.
I even put a new SIM in it, so it’s got its own number again which I assure you it’s very proud of and I even topped it up so it can actually send a text and everything. Some say, in theory, it could still be used as a mobile phone, even now. *Shock Horror*
But you can’t watch YouTube on it or use WhatsApp so that’s the deal breaker lol.
I don’t hand it out these days… but if someone mattered enough, maybe they’d figure it out.
Here, take your best guess at the new number: 07796881 5 _ _
There’s only 99 numbers it can be. Didn’t think I’d post the whole thing on a bot-hunting blog did you! 😉
Let’s just say there’s more here than meets the eye, if you know where to look and have a detective cape hanging up in your wardrobe.
It’s funny to think, some of these people may still have my number sitting in an old phone, tucked away in a drawer. Maybe some people tried to contact it over the years after it got recycled. *cue the dramatic music*
There were some old texts in there saved on my old SIM. It’s like walking into a time capsule going through messages from that time, especially when people wish you Happy New Year in 2005 🙂
Thanks for reading/watching… see you in the next one.
Let’s play this one out with “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane. Some songs just know too much…
